Reunion Update – Got Memorabilia?

Reunion Update – Got Memorabilia?

The latest addition to the reunion festivities is a memorabilia contest to be held Friday night.  Winners will be those who bring the most remarkable Empehi memorabilia to show off. So dust off those high school treasures and plan to bring them along!

Your opportunity to get this year’s reunion tickets at 2007 prices is coming to an end, so please purchase them now.  The Friday night mixer tickets are $35 and Saturday night dinner tickets are $75.  We have been offering a package deal, both for only $100, a $10 savings, which makes Saturday tickets the same price as the 2007 reunion.  However, this special offer is limited and will expire on June 15
th.

Act before June 15th and save $10.  Buy your tickets on the website, www.morganparkhigh.com or make your check out the Empehi Reunion Association and mail it to Judy (Halligan) Willingham, Treasurer at P.O. Box 165, Chester, MD 21619.

Incidentally, a small “scholarship fund” has been established, so if you want to attend, but don’t think you can afford it, please contact our Treasurer, Judy Halligan Willingham, at empehireunion@aol.com to discuss offsetting part of your cost from this fund. And if you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund so more classmates can attend, you can make a donation on the website or send a check to Judy at the address above.

Rooms at the Tinley Park Convention Center are still available at our special rate of $119.  Details are on the website.
We have had another dozen classmates put their profiles on our website recently.  Go to the Classmates Today page at www.MorganParkHigh.com to see who is listed.  And, if you haven’t entered your information, please take a minute to do so. This will become our living year book, but we need your cooperation to make it really fun.  (P.S. This is not associated with Classmates.com -- it is our own website.)

We are going to have a contest next month for the best pictures posted with the Classmates Today profiles.  There will be several categories, including best classic photo, craziest, and a few more.  And the prizes are something everyone can appreciate.  Get your photos up now, so when the contest begins you will have a chance.

This is shaping up to be a terrific reunion, and I’m looking forward to seeing you again.

Best regards,

Will Hepburn
Reunion Coordinator

Catholic Youth Ministry MPHS-PTSA

It takes a village to raise our children and MPHS has been so fortunate to have our own village.

The Catholic Youth Ministry located at 1825 W. Monterey, right across the street from the campus of Morgan Park High School, provides a home away from home for our young people after school each day.

Our big, old house has a welcoming foyer, two lounge areas, a kitchen with vending machines, a computer room with Internet access, a basement recreation room, and a back deck and yard.

The Center provides a supervised setting for Morgan Park High School students after school.

Our Drop-In Center provides social, leadership and study opportunities for an average of 40 young people every school day. The Drop-in Center allows adult staff to form relationships with our young people and encourage their participation in other activities. Student run activities such as game tournaments and Movie Days are scheduled monthly.

The “Blue House” is open until 5:00pm on regularly scheduled school days for Morgan Park students.

The Catholic Youth Ministry fundraiser will be Saturday May 19, 2012 6pm. -11pm OR mail your contribution to the above address.

If you have any questions call the Center at 773-881-0193. See information below.

We hope you will support the efforts to keep OUR village available for OUR students.

The Catholic Youth Ministry Center is registered 501(c)(3) organization.

Reunion Scoop

Yes, you got a "B" - as in Beach Boys, whose 1964 tune "I Get Around" garnered 45% of the votes as “Most Representative” of your years at Empehi.

“Louie, Louie” by the Kingsmen ranked second with a slightly alarming 31% of the votes, although our concerns were alleviated by the mere 2% earned by “Purple Haze.”  In between were “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by the Temptations (14%) and “Like a Rolling Stone,” Bob Dylan’s 1965 anthem  with 8% of the votes.

Many Alums nominated other songs. You can see what other songs were nominated (and who nominated them) on the Music Page of our website at morganparkhigh.com.

And speaking of getting a "B," this week's Poll has to do with some of the teachers from our time at Morgan Park High School that we plan to invite to Saturday's function at the Tinley Park Convention Center.  Please go to the Poll Page and vote for the teacher who sparks the best/worst memories in you.

After you vote, if the spirit moves you, go to the Jokes/Stories page and share that memorable moment -- good or bad.  And, by all means, please go to the Donations Page and kick in a little something to help defray the cost of feeding these great teachers.  We’ll be polling you about six more teachers next time around, so feel free to vote in each poll.

Check out who has added their profile at Classmates Today – and please add your profile and “Then” and “Now” pictures!  We have something fun in mind down the road regarding these profiles, and you will want to be involved.

Limited-time Discounts on the Two Night Package are still available online or via snail mail as are separate tickets for the Friday night mixer and Saturday night dinner events.  Rooms at the Tinley Park Holiday Inn at our special discounted rate are going fast, so make your reservations today. (See the Travelers Page at morganparkhigh.com for details.

We are looking forward to seeing you again, August 3-5, 2012.  If you have questions or comments, please send them to morganparkhigh@gmail.com or leave a voice mail message at                                    312 857 6764
